Shipping policy
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
This policy describes how 40Five ships and delivers products purchased through our website. Delivery method, timing, and available service levels vary by product and destination.
How Delivery Method Is Determined
Delivery method is determined by the item(s) in your order (including size, weight, fragility, and packaging requirements) and your ship-to location. The delivery option(s) available for your order are shown in the cart/checkout and/or confirmed in writing after purchase for freight items.
Orders containing a mix of delivery types may ship in multiple packages and may arrive via separate deliveries. In some cases, an entire order may ship using a single delivery method to ensure safe, consolidated delivery.
Standard Delivery (Small Parcels)
Most smaller items ship via UPS Ground. In certain cases we may use a comparable courier service.
Standard Delivery:
- is delivered to the shipping address provided at checkout
- does not include scheduled appointment windows, unpacking, assembly, placement, or packaging removal
- includes tracking once your order ships
Transit times are estimates and are not guaranteed.
Freight Delivery (Default: Threshold)
Items that are too large, heavy, or fragile for small parcel shipping ship via freight.
Unless otherwise confirmed in writing, freight shipments are delivered using Threshold delivery:
- delivery is made to the first accessible, dry, ground-level area at the delivery address (e.g., just inside the entryway, garage, or building lobby/service area for multi-unit buildings)
- items are delivered boxed/crated
- unpacking, assembly, and packaging removal are not included
Freight deliveries typically require a scheduled delivery appointment. The freight carrier will contact you using the contact details provided at checkout.
In-Home / White-Glove Delivery (Select Items & Locations Only)
In-home / white-glove delivery may be available for select products and destinations, subject to carrier availability and site access. If offered, the scope of service will be confirmed at checkout and/or in your order confirmation or pre-delivery communication.
When offered, in-home / white-glove service may include:
- delivery to the room of choice
- unpacking and inspection
- basic assembly and placement
- removal of packaging and debris
Unless explicitly confirmed in writing, in-home / white-glove service does not include:
- wall mounting, anchoring, or anti-tip installation
- electrical, plumbing, or hardwiring work
- alteration of your home or existing fixtures
- removal or disposal of existing furniture
Market Coverage, Remote/Island Locations, and Freight Forwarders
We ship within the continental 48 United States. Availability is shown at checkout.
Remote, island, or otherwise hard-to-access delivery locations may require additional transit time, special equipment, or special handling, and may be subject to additional charges or delivery limitations. If we cannot service a delivery location at the requested level, we may (a) offer an alternative delivery level, (b) request additional information to complete delivery, or (c) cancel and refund the order if delivery is not feasible.
If you request delivery to a freight forwarder or receiving agent, delivery is considered complete once the shipment is delivered and documented at that address. Additional handling, forwarding, and storage are the responsibility of the customer.
Risk of Loss and Title Transfer (Review Required)
For Standard Delivery shipments, risk of loss transfers to you when the shipment is marked “delivered” by the courier at the shipping address provided.
For freight shipments (Threshold and In-home/White-Glove), risk of loss transfers to you upon completion of delivery at the delivery address (or when accepted by you or an authorized recipient).
Title transfer provisions should be reviewed with counsel and aligned with your governing law and payment terms.
Customer Responsibilities (Access, Measurements, Presence)
Before ordering, you are responsible for confirming the product can be safely delivered to the intended location, including that it will fit through all access points (doors, hallways, stairways, elevators, and turns).
For freight deliveries, you are responsible for:
- providing accurate contact information for scheduling
- ensuring clear, safe access to the delivery location (including roads/driveways and entry points)
- reserving elevators/loading docks where required
- obtaining any required Certificate of Insurance (COI) or building approvals where applicable
- ensuring an adult (18+) is present to accept delivery during the scheduled window
- clearing the placement area prior to delivery (delivery teams cannot move or dispose of existing furniture unless expressly agreed in writing)
Inspection at Delivery
You should inspect packaging and items upon delivery. If damage is visible, note it on the delivery receipt (where applicable) and take photographs. Retain all packaging until any claim is resolved. Notify 40Five promptly with supporting photos.
Surcharges, Redelivery, Storage, And Reroutes
Additional charges may apply in situations including, but not limited to:
- oversized, extremely heavy, or fragile items requiring special handling
- stairs, multiple flights, long carries, narrow access, or multiple elevator stops
- remote or difficult-to-access locations
- special delivery requirements disclosed late or not disclosed at checkout
- missed delivery appointments, unsuccessful delivery attempts, or refusal of delivery
- storage charges if an order cannot be delivered due to customer unavailability or site conditions
- rerouting or address changes after shipment
Where charges arise from carrier policies or special handling requirements, 40Five may pass through those charges to the customer and/or require payment prior to rescheduling or completing delivery.
